I ♥ Faces Week 13 - My Friend and I

ADULT ENTRY:

KIDS ENTRY:

Okay, so a mother can dream can't she? There are moments, few and far between, but still, they happen, when I can see into the future and my boys are indeed friends. It may take awhile, but if my brother and I are friends, these two have it in them.

Julie wrote in her blog "I can think of no better friends than my daughter and Karyn's son", and I have to protest! Though Julie and I have not wed, yet, and we haven't resorted to hitting one another out of frustration, yet, we have shared hopes and dreams and stress and a package of fruit snacks or two. I would have to say that surviving a deployment as battle buddies will hopefully have us bonded forever, and our children would never have found one another if the Mommies hadn't connected over email and put forth great effort to organize outings and picnics. So when Julie called me up and mentioned that I Heart Faces was "friends" week I was totally game for an attempt to get the two of us, together, on the opposite side of the lens. The outcome speaks for itself, and really is a perfect portrait of our lives this past year! I will treasure this image as much as I treasure my friend.

Has it really been 13 weeks since I discovered I ♥ Faces ? How cool is this website? I've learned nifty tricks about taking better images, sweet quick fixes for editing problems, and I've made friends on the other side of the United States AND Australia, not to mention I've "bumped" into folks online who are actually living on the same Army installation! This website will boost your confidence (because tons of well meaning people will visit your blog and stroke your ego- this is of course the number one reason I return each week;) ), inspire you to take better photos, introduce you to people with huge talent and even bigger hearts. Don't waste anymore time, come join the fun by clicking on the link below!

Wow, what a cute shot. Love the setting, lighting and angle (just like everyone else). I could picture this in a catalog for a very large store in Maine. Now, there's a new branch for your talent!

You make me look GOOD! :) (and are you 12 in this one?) So much fun to the see the two different perspectives, thanks for playing along with me! Your friendship was indeed the glue that helped me survive this past year. And I am celebrating breakfast all day today in anticipation of tomorrow...cereal for lunch, oatmeal for dinner, I think...

Those are both really great shots.

Wow, I would say Wow is okay to use twice in this comment section. Now, how do two talented ladies get two 3 year olds and a lively one year old to play the game of "let's take a picture in a mirror" and all stay in the same room?(I bet the babe is well anchored) And !! to have everyone looking in the same direction? Awesome friendship with an awesome outcome. Where's Seamus? Julie's (non)entry on her blog is great too.

Bridgettepatterson said... at April 6, 2009 at 3:31 PM

Very sweet! Creative, fun, inspirational!

I am so beyond impressed at your adult entry! I can barely get a non-blurry picture when I'm looking through the lens, let alone even think of holding my camera off to the side. AWESOME!

And I love the expressions on your kids entry as well.

Really enjoying both photos and the contract between the two with the bold colors of the little ones and the black and white portrait. A great self portrait! Great job!

Your photos are GREAT! Now that I'm all grown up, I know that there's no better friend than a sister. Hopefully, your boys will grow up with the same kind of bond. I also really like your photo with Julie. You two are so lucky to have been able to meet face to face through I Heart Faces.

Julie Rivera said... at April 11, 2009 at 7:40 AM

Yeah for your special pick! Who cares who came up wiht the idea...your B&W is gorgeous, I look youthful with perfect skin and your image completely conveys our friendship. I'd love a print...when you have a spare minute. :)

Karyn,

Congratulations on being a choice pick! I love the adult friend picture and I think it's because of the kids in the picture with yall that take it over the top for me. When your children are small isn't great to have someone like Julie to be there during those tough times of the tiny tot stage!?

I loved this picture when I saw it! I am so glad you were a pick of the week! Absolutely fantastic photos!
